Water Accumulation in Patna City During Monsoon, Bihar

During the monsoon season, Patna city faced severe flooding, Cosmos Pumps swiftly implemented a comprehensive dewatering solution

Overcoming Subterranean Water Challenges

The Problem:

During the monsoon season, Patna city experienced extensive flooding due to the inadequacies of the existing drainage system. Immediate dewatering was required to manage the flooding effectively.

Impact:

The inadequate drainage system led to widespread flooding in Patna, which posed serious risks to public safety, caused property damage, and disrupted essential services.

Pumps Used:

CSW & Autoprime Pumps, including AutoPrime with Canopy CAP EC/MC, AutoPrime without Canopy on heavy trolley CAP ET/MT, AutoPrime without Canopy on small trolley CAP EW/MW, and CAP on Skid.

Solution Implemented

Patna Municipality received the following pumps for the dewatering process: 40 Submersible Pumps (60HP), 20 Pumps (75HP), 25 Pumps (25HP), and 25 Pumps (16HP). Multiple areas in Patna were affected by flooding. The municipality awarded the dewatering contract to Cosmos Pumps. Our expert team conducted site assessments and analysis. Attempts to pump water into the drainage system were initially ineffective due to its poor structure. Cosmos Pumps designed and implemented a comprehensive dewatering plan. Low-lying areas and other flood-prone zones were targeted. Water was transferred to tankers and pumped out using long hoses to properly functioning drainage areas. Additionally, contained water from tankers was also directed to distant drainage systems.
