Waste water in basements, housing society sumps, hotel kitchens, workshops and construction pits is rarely clean. It carries sand, silt, leaves, soft organic matter and the odd rag, and the volume changes with every monsoon spell. A light domestic pump clogs or burns out under that load, while a heavy dewatering or sewage pump is more capacity, and more cost, than the job needs.
The Cosmos CMP Multi-Purpose Submersible Pump is built for this middle ground. It is an economy-series waste-water pump with a cast iron volute, SS 304 outer jacket, 99.9% copper winding and a built-in thermal overload protector. Drainage models pass solids up to 20 mm and cutter models handle soft solids up to 30 mm. Single-phase models come with a float switch for automatic ON/OFF, so the pump can be left in a sump to run on its own.

| Best for | Basement and sump drainage, rainwater, muddy water from construction pits | Waste water with soft solids: kitchen and toilet drains, housing society sewage sumps, farm and poultry effluent |
The pump casing is graded cast iron for strength against grit and impact, and the motor is wrapped in an SS 304 stainless steel jacket that resists corrosion in waste water. The shaft is SS 410 stainless steel.
Every CMP motor carries a T.O.P (Thermal Overload Protector) that cuts power before the winding overheats, protecting the pump from burnout if it runs dry, gets choked, or is overloaded. The winding itself is 99.9% copper with ICC-grade varnish for thermal endurance.
Single-phase models are supplied with a float switch. The pump starts when the water level rises and stops when the sump is empty, so it can be left unattended in a basement sump, lift pit or drainage chamber.
The CMP uses a carbon vs ceramic mechanical seal, the standard seal pairing for waste-water pumps, backed by HCH / P2P bearings and LC 0.5 grade stamping rated for continuous duty.
Single-phase CMP models are designed to run through supply fluctuations from 180V to 240V, which suits housing societies, farm houses and sites on weak or rural power lines.
The CMP is rated IP 68 and can run continuously at depths of up to 10 metres. A 5 metre cable is standard, with 10 M and 15 M cables available as options.
Basements, parking levels, lift pits and society sumps collect seepage and rainwater that must be cleared quickly. A float-switch CMP single-phase model sits in the sump and empties it automatically. The 1.0 – 2.0 HP drainage models cover most residential sumps at 4 – 12 M head.
Foundation pits, trenches and cellars on small and mid-size sites fill with muddy water carrying sand and silt. The drainage models pass solids up to 20 mm, and the 3.0 HP CMP 302L-C delivers 500 LPM at 4 M or lifts water up to 26 M where it has to be pumped out of a deep excavation.
Kitchen, washroom and floor-drain waste water in malls, hotels and restaurants carries soft solids and food waste. The cutter variants handle soft solids up to 30 mm, and the three-phase models suit buildings with a 415V supply.
Wash bays, service pits, farm drains and poultry sheds produce dirty water that a clean-water pump cannot handle. The CMP’s non-clog impeller and wide-voltage single-phase motor suit these sites, including rural locations with unstable power.

| Best for | Basements, sumps, buildings, small sites and domestic or commercial waste water | Construction, tunnelling and mining dewatering at high flow and head |
Choose the CMP when the flow is under 500 LPM and the water carries mixed solids. Choose the CDW dewatering pump for continuous high-volume dewatering, or the CSW sewage pump for municipal sewage with large solids.
A multi-purpose submersible pump is a compact pump that runs fully under water and handles more than clean water: drainage water with sand and silt, rainwater, and domestic or commercial waste water with soft solids. The Cosmos CMP covers these duties from 0.5 HP to 3.0 HP, with drainage models for solids up to 20 mm and cutter models for soft solids up to 30 mm.
For most residential sumps a 1.0 HP model (CMP 102L-SP) or 1.5 HP model (CMP 152L-SP) is enough, delivering 210 – 330 LPM at 4 M head. If the water has to be lifted higher than about 10 M, or the sump fills fast, choose the 2.0 HP CMP 202L-SP. Single-phase models include a float switch for automatic operation.
Drainage models use a non-clog impeller that passes solids up to 20 mm and suit muddy water, seepage and rainwater. Cutter models (suffix -C) have a cutter mechanism that breaks down soft solids up to 30 mm, so they suit waste water from kitchens, toilets and sewage sumps. Cutter models also reach higher heads, up to 27 M.
Yes. Six of the twelve CMP models are single phase (220V, 50Hz), and they are designed to run through supply fluctuations from 180V to 240V. Three-phase models run on 415V, 50Hz with ±10% voltage tolerance.
The CMP is IP 68 rated for continuous submergence of up to 10 metres. It is designed for water and waste water up to 40°C with a pH between 6.5 and 8.5. For slurry, chemical effluent or hot liquids, ask us about the CSL slurry pump or another model.
Every CMP pump carries a 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects. A 5 M cable is standard, and 10 M or 15 M cables are available at extra cost.
